FireFox 3.0

So, Firefox 3.0 came out today. I’m a big Firefox user. For those of you who don’t know, Firefox is a browser that can replace, among others, Internet Explorer from your Windows based machine. You can download Firefox 3.0 here.

One of the best things about Firefox is that they have ways of extending the browser to do things that other browsers either cannot do or don’t do well. Currently, I’m typing this post from inside Firefox while connected to a completely different site ( In this case the Mozilla site) The Firefox extension I’m using is called “Deepest Sender“. It’s a blogging client. This means that you don’t have to go directly to your blog to post. You can be anywhere, as long as Firefox is running and post to your blog.

It’s pretty nifty. Please give it a try for yourself

Ancestry Blog

I use Family Tree Maker to do my genealogy. It has it’s good points, as well as it’s bad ones. I actually liked the previous version (FTM 16 I think) better than the most current one. That said, they are making improvements to the most current version. I check the Ancestry Blog to keep up with changes ( both made and proposed) to FTM. They also have some pretty good hints about how to use the latest version and the comments left by users are quite informative. If you haven’t upgraded to the latest patch ( #3) to FTM, I suggest you do next time you use the program.
