More Confusion

My Uncle Mike Wainer was born January 7th, 1915 in the city of Boston. I asked at the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK) website for a volunteer to help me find his birth record. I was hoping to shed a little light on my Grandparents and see what names they were using at the time. I was also hoping to find their marriage record, but more on that in a future post. Marguerite, a very cool volunteer at RAOGK, was able to track down my Uncle Mike’s birth record.

In volume 1 on page 10 of the Boston Vital Records for the year 1915 we get this:

And now the confusion. It looks like my Grandfather had started to use the name “Wainer” as far back as 1915 although the first name is John and not William. My Grandmother, on the other hand, is now Belle Osnerstavitch which is very different, to me anyway, from Anne Ostafyczuk. So I’m thinking maybe my Grandmothers first name might be “Annabelle” ?

I really need to find that marriage record.
