Hattie Knickerbocker and Fred Voorhees

I had an e-mail from a distant cousin who asked for information about the Voorhees family who married Hattie Knickerbocker. I didn’t have much Voorhees information but I did have some So, I added a page for the descendants of Abraham S. Voorhees

If you live in Southern California

If you live in So. Cal. or wish you did but will be visiting during June 27-29 the Southern California Genealogy Jamboree will be held at the Burbank Area Marriott. I’m going try to and show up Sunday. They have a couple of special sessions regarding Eastern European ancestors that might help me break through to my Wynohradnyk past. See the web site here.

Ancient DNA

There’s an Interesting article on DNA recovered from a 1,000 year old Viking burial site here. One of the things I’ve been wanting to do, but haven’t, is to have my DNA coded to see what Haplogroup affiliations are present in my DNA.

Also, here’s a great site on genetic genealogy, what tests to have, and what they might mean.

Hellen Burgess

My Maternal Great-Great Grandmother was born Hellen Burgess. A copy of the 1850 census for Truxton, New York shows Hellen , her father Nehemiah, her mother Elanor, and her siblings: Eugene, Herman, Irene, Janette, and Marion.
